Her Story Wasn't Over

Gaye Coker's Lamppost Running Story

AUGUST 16, 2026

Meet Gaye Coker, a retired teacher, wife, runner, and longtime part of what is now Lamppost Running.

Before she started, Gaye describes herself as slow, unhealthy, spiritually distant, and walking through a season of deep grief. She came to the group for the Bible study, never imagining that running would become part of her life.

But through faith, community, and the encouragement of people who became like family, God began to change her story.

In this interview, Gaye shares how Lamppost Running helped her grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally. She talks about training for a marathon at 65, walking through lymphoma, giving God the glory for her strength, and using her story as a way to point others to Jesus.

Her reminder is simple and powerful:

As long as you have breath, your story is not over.
